Creative projects of international value.
Cultural cooperation with regions of Russia and foreign countries
During the year the work on development of international contracts and agreements on social, economic, scientific and cultural cooperation with Russian regions was continued.
In the frames of the cultural program of the cross year Russia-France 16 masterpieces from the collections of Vologda and Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserves were presented at the exhibition “Sacred Rus’: Russian art from the ancient times till the epoch of Peter the Great” in the Louvre (Paris), the author’s dolls by the Vologda craftswomen were included in the exposition “Russian folk toy” in the toy museum of Colmar city.
In the Russian pavilion during the Cannes film festival there was a presentation of the International festival of young European cinema “VOICES”. French cinematography became the first guest of honor at the film festival “VOICES”. A chamber choir “Voix de Strass” came with a guest performance to Vologda. The group presented a program “Tender France”, carried out master-classes for students from the art unions and universities and for the choir supervisors. The Moscow House of Photo presented a photo-exhibition “Changing image of the changing fashion” by French photographers Francoise Yuge and Gerard Jufer.
In the frames of cultural cooperation with Italy Vologda Oblast delegation took part in the annual Festival of Russian art “Summer orchard of arts” (Bari city) and presented exhibition “Traditional applied art of Vologda land”. Dance and song group “Russian north” presented Vologda land at the international festival “Young Russian culture in Italy” (Venice).
The established contacts between Vologda Oblast and Republic of Poland in the sphere of culture continued by presentation of the regional education public organization “Polonia” in Vologda with the participation of the official delegation of the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Saint Petersburg headed by the Consul General Yaroslav Drozd and a show of the performance “Mrak” (Darkness) – a joint project of the Consulate of Poland in Saint-Petersburg and students of Saint Petersburg State Academy of theatric arts in the out-of-competition program of the International theater festival “Voices of History” where the senior councilor, head of the cultural department of the Consulate General of Poland in Saint-Petersburg Cesar Karpinski was present.
Participation of the Polish film director, play-writer and actor Krzysztof Zanussi as a jury member of the I International festival “VOICES” and a visit of Vologda youth to Warsaw to take part in master-classes by Krzysztof Zanussi in the frames of the future II festival “VOICES” strengthened the friendly relations with Poland. Vologda lace from the stock of Vologda museum- reserve was presented at the XI International festival of bobbin lace in Bobovo city. Cooperation with Polish restorers and students from Gdansk polytechnic university was also developed.
In the frames of the visit of Finnish delegation headed by the Consul General of Finland in Saint-Petersburg Olle Perheentupa to Vologda “Days of Finnish culture” were carried out including literary and music parties for children in which a writer R. Niemelä and a painter-illustrator L.Bondestam accompanied by a rock-group «Jytajyrsijat» took part. An exhibition of comics was also presented.
Under the support of the Consulate General of USA in Saint-Petersburg an international music festival “Bluegrass” was carried out in Vologda. The guests of honor were Consul General of USA Sheila Guoltni and consul on press and culture Erick Johnson.
The honor of guests during the holiday devoted to the Day of Peoples Unity and opening ceremony of the unique in Russia Museum of Lace became representatives of diplomatic missions of 10 countries and members of Vologda regional branch of All-Russia public organization “Assembly of Peoples of Russia” and representatives of national associations.
Official and creative delegations of the region took part in the XI Russian-Finnish cultural forum (Hämeenlinna city, Finland), I International competition “Festival of Scandinavian capitals 2010” (Finland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden), 14th congress of International organization of bobbin and needle lace (Kobe city, Japan), cultural program of the International agricultural exhibition “SIA” (Paris, France).
In 2010 Vologda Oblast received the participants of big international creative forums: Governor’s international youth competition under the name of Valeri Gavrilin (Vologda city), X International theatre festival “Voices of History” (Vologda and Cherepovets cities), International festival of young European cinema “VOICES” (Vologda and Cherepovets cities), International festival “Christmas dream” (Veliki Ustyug city) and etc.
Cultural ties with Russian regions were also well developed.
Vologda Region delegations took part in the V All-Russia festival competition “Russian costume at the turn of the century” (Yaroslavl city), V Interregional archeological conference “Archeology: history and perspectives” (Yaroslavl city), II All-Russia congress of folklore students” (Moscow city) etc.
Puppet theater “Teremok” became a prize-winner of the number of the festivals among puppet theatres in the cities of Pskov, Ivanovo, Moscow, Orenburg and Kostroma arranged during the year. The theatre of young spectator became a prize-winner of the IV International theatre festival of the modern dramaturgy “Kolyada-Plays” (Yekaterinburg city).
The Governor’s orchestra of the Russian folk instruments conducted by Galina Perevoznikova took part in the concert program “Andrei Gorbachev invites…” in the Concert hall of the Russian academy of music under the name of the Gnesins (Moscow). The artists of the group “Gostia” performed in Saint-Petersburg theatre “Music hall”. The amateur groups of the regional philharmonic society under the name of Valeri Gavrilin were on guest tours in 16 regions of Russia.
In 2010 Vologda Oblast became the place of many significant All-Russia projects: All-Russia festival of family creative art “Family of Russia” (Cherepovets city), All-Russia creative workshop “Folklore and youth” (Vologda city), II All-Russia festival competition “Spring dripping water” (Veliki Ustyug city).
Annually All-Russia action “Ded Moroz birthday party” is carried out in the city of Veliki Ustyug. A traditional Ded Moroz New Year trip was held in 14 cities of Russia, in the cities of Latvia, Lithuania and Belarus.
Traditionally interregional creative projects were carried out in Vologda Oblast: VI Interregional literature festival “Plus poetry”, interregional festivals “The Slavs from Poyuzheye” (Veliki Ustyug city), “Tree of Life” (Babaevo municipality), “Beloozero” (Belozersk city) etc.
The students from the education establishments of culture and arts during the year took part in international, All-Russia, interregional competitions, festivals and exhibitions carried out in more than 20 regions of Russia and in Italy, Austria, Hungary and Republic of Belarus.
Amateur groups of the region took part in the competitions held in 16 regions of Russia and in Sweden, Israel and Republic of Belarus.
